The EuroVelo & Cycling Tourism Conference is the key event bringing together all actors in the cycling tourism sector. It is the ideal platform for debate and exchange and to hear the latest developments and ideas in cycling tourism.
The 2023 edition of the event will take place in Izmir, Türkiye, from 11 to 13 October and is organized by the European Cyclists’ Federation (ECF) and Türkiye Tourism Promotion and Development Agency (TGA).
İzmir is located along the EuroVelo 8 – Mediterranean Route İzmir is one of the oldest cities of Turk Aegean with 8500 years history. This beautiful city impresses visitors with its healthy cuisine, mild climate, rich history, lush green nature and welcoming people.
The EuroVelo & Cycling Tourism Conference 2023 will feature plenary sessions, panel discussions, workshops, social events and technical visits for an exciting and inspiring programme, built around the theme of Cycling: A new perspective on heritage.
The Conference aims to boost knowledge transfer on cycling and tourism and to raise awareness on the EuroVelo network at local and international level, involving a variety of stakeholders. Furthermore, it will positively impact the development of cycling tourism in the host city and encourage the recognition of cycling tourism as top-priority type of tourism and economic activity.

EUROVELO Mediterranean Route
The EuroVelo 8 in İzmir connects the ports of Dikili and Çeşme via Lesbos and Chios islands and passes through seventeen townships of the city. The route is structured with reference to the ancient sites and their interconnection based on natural, cultural and local values. EuroVelo 8 in İzmir connects two very important ancient cities. Pergamon in the north, and Ephesus in the South with other ancient sites on the route constituting the route’s backbone.
